Pelican
Remember the years of the "summer single?" How one single song would appear on the radio in June that would define the entire summer? The Beach Boys were the Masters of the summer single....hearing one of their songs later in the year, especially in the freezing middle of winter, would suddenly transport you back to the beach in July....
For the Summer of 1999 Pelican is proud to announce the release of our own summer single, the long-awaited _Burnin' Lilly Jones_, a song that will suprise and delight you all...The latest opus from Flop and Jenkins....
This summer single will also transport you....but in a refreshingly different way: As you sweat on the beach in July, your body sticky with sunscreen and covered with sand... despite uncounted beers you are still thirsty....listen to _Burnin' Lilly Jones_
....and find yourself freezing in the muddy woods in the middle of February....surrounded by a bunch of supposedly grown men, most of them seriously drunk....where your only hope of warmth is a pathetic fire rendered weak and dangerous by these so-called "friends" who continually blow it to pieces by throwing on handfuls of explosives....meanwhile you are being stalked by an insane physician with battlefield nukes.....In desperation you set fire to an abandoned house.....
_Burnin' Lilly Jones_ also features a blistering performance by Slash from the Floyd Boys on lead guitar.....We hope this is first of many visits to Pelican by our colleagues and fellow artists...
All singles need a "B" side and "Lilly" comes accompanied by last year's Longrows, here digitally remastered for this release. As buyers will see, this release marks a significant step up from previous Pelican offerings in many ways....
