Glisten

Glisten (subtitled The Roger Dean Area) was one of the last songs to be finished. It was May 2000, and I had not received any new lyric ideas for months. I decided to go back through the lyrics I had to see if there was something I hadn't used yet. I ended up going all the way back to the first email lyric I had recieved from Bop, with the Longrows lyric. The first one, the "M. T. Clump version" didn't seem to fit, as its actually about my beach house. But the "Yes version" had promise. It was a clever parody of Yes lyrics, but it was only 6 lines (See the "What is Thinking Man's Pig?" page for the original lyric). Also, I knew I couldn't really sound like Yes, but maybe I could construct a Yes-like song, or at least a song with some Yes-like elements.

It took some doing, but I found a way to expand Bop's six lines to make an entire song. This is the only "finished" demo with no guitars. I ended up using all 8-tracks on my ADAT for vocals.

Glisten

Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten
Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten

Spaciousness streams into a wall
Stop! There! Look! Listen!
Consciousness seems to be a thick fall.
Drop! Stare... at nothing! Glisten!

Shine, Glisten
Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten
Look, Listen

You might shine
You might glisten
You might shine
You might glisten
listen

Consciousness seems to be a thick fall.
Stop! There! Look! Listen!
Spaciousness streams into a wall
Drop! Stare... at nothing! Glisten!

Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten
Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten

You will shine
You will glisten
You will shine
You will glisten
listen

You will shine
You will glisten
You will shine

Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten
Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten

You might shine when all glistening's gone.
You might glisten when shining's forlorn.
You might shine when all glistening's gone.
You might glisten when shining's forlorn.

Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten
Look, Listen
Shine, Glisten

You might glisten when shining's forlorn.
