In August of 1999 I got word from Bop that he had an idea for a song with a working title "The Dogs of Rock and Roll." He wanted to see if we could do something in an AC/DC style. He recommended I get his favorite of their records, so "Powerage" became my exercise music for a few weeks. When the lyric finally arrived it had changed in concept, but it fit our Bovinia theme even better.
I probably did more takes of the vocal on this song than any other, but in the end I just gave up. It really needs a Bon Scott-stlye screamer.
We also hoped to get Slash back in Pelican Studio for the lead break, but it didn't happen. One of my favorite bits, note the "paw claps" on the lead break.
Kill Dog Pass
a nip a bite
four legg'd sass
I am Alpha
on Kill Dog Pass
and pink and flesh
and blood and bone
we herd 'em here
we drive it home
I raise my pack
I run them hard
My tongue is sweat
My head's a throb.
I slice the neck
and eat the best.
Then, pass the pig
to all the rest.
I slice the neck
and eat the best.
I run them dead
so I might rest.
my legs my life
my teeth my tool
my pack my pride.
My God ! I drool.
